A Novel Idea - License Nudity Ken Heile has a novel idea, make people buy a license to be nude. While I don't really buy into the whole idea, I do like this part: Nudists would have to follow the town ordinance, but could check their clothes at the door of an establishment that encourages nudist shoppers, as long as they have a current "nudist" wrist band. Following Heile's letter to the editor is another letter from Paul Rapoport takes a serious approach and makes some really good points that we hope Brattleboro will listen to. Here's a sample: Those trying so hard to prevent their kids from seeing unclothed bodies doing more or less nothing are contributing to the massive U.S. epidemics of body phobia and related socio-sexual problems unseen to such an extent elsewhere in the Western world. | | 10:12p |
Why Should Public Nudity Be Illegal? Why indeed. It's certainly a question I can't find a good answer to. The problem is that our society seems to take such an ill-view of nudity, yet as Whym Rhymer says: we're talking about the human body. Hey, everyone has one and they all basically look alike except for gender differences. If you don't like to look at a naked or partially naked human body, YOU may be the one with the problem and if you teach your children that they should be ashamed of their body you're passing that problem on to the next generation. Rhymer makes alot of sense. Sadly our society doesn't. Read the whole piece and I highly recommend you take Rhymer's advice. |
